Artist Statement

As an artist, I have lived my life fascinated by the mystique of the human physical body and with a very strong interest in the personal stories that the individual body contains.

The physical body, with its past and future lives recorded in it, creates movement and releases energy through dance. For me, the art form of dance has endless possibilities, and is a profession to which I chose to devote my life. I feel blessed to live myself as a dancer.

I have personally experienced childbirth, overcoming depressive symptoms and asthma, recovering from spinal canal stenosis, and now continuing my battle with breast cancer. Through these experiences, I have not only grown physically and spiritually, but I have experienced enough miracles to convince me of the mysteries of the physical body. And this is enhanced by my respect for the lives of others and my desire for greater societal harmony.

Art is an equation of people, bodies, and the stories they contain. For me, everyday life in this world is rich with sources of art to explore. The compassionate smile of a good friend, a soft hand supporting someone, or even a rich moment spent with a loved one can be considered a source of inspiration for me. My individuality is manifested in the way I focus on a commonplace aspect of everyday life, cut it out with fresh movement, and translate it into the art form of dance.

My Mission, as a dancer, choreographer, and teaching artist, is to continue seeking insights from my own life and delivering dance works that bless the lives of those who are struggling to make it in this world.
